Memphis

Monday July 1st (Happy Canada Day!) we drove to Memphis.  We spent the night there so we could take in Graceland on Tuesday.  Had a great southern dinner & then hired our Uber driver to show us around.  He took us to some estate neighborhoods with beautiful older mansions.  We also caught the light show at the bridge that crosses the Mississippi River from Memphis Tennessee to Arkansas.  Then he dropped us off on Beale Street for some live blues music.

The bridge lights change to many colours and happens every night at 9:00pm.  A private company paid for the lights & maintains them.  We also stopped at the motel where Martin Luther King was shot.  Very humbling to be there.  It’s been left as it was on that day, including the cars in the parking lot.  I’ll do a separate post with those pictures.

This was Beale Street.
