July 4th!

After 4 long days Wednesday was a down day & we just took it easy.  Thursday, July 4th started out stormy.  We caught the shuttle to downtown to take in the festivities on Broadway Street in Nashville.    Downtown was closed off to traffic and even us pedestrians were re-routed through metal detectors to get in.  We worked our way into a rooftop bar with live entertainment & pop up tents to keep us dry.  After awhile the rain stopped & we headed to main stage.  There were a few stages downtown.  The main one featured Brett Eldridge so we enjoyed his concert before heading to the river for fireworks. Nashville put on one of the biggest shows in the country with a million dollar budget.  The show was 30 minutes long and finale intensity the whole time.  Unfortunately the air was quite still so the smoke didn’t dissipate which hid a lot of the finale.  That was disappointing for everyone I’m sure.  Was entertaining none the less.  Part of the show was shot from the roof of Nissan Stadium and that was awesome to see.  Getting home after was a long haul with the traffic nightmare but we had a patient Uber driver 😊

Friday was laundry day & loading the motorcycle back in the trailer.  Kevan discovered the trailer had a flat tire when he put the jacks up so the afternoon consisted of finding a tire store to help.  Dinner while we waited for the repair and tire mounted back on the trailer & we were good to go!  Spent some time with our trailer park neighbors from Arkansas.  Getting used to deciphering their accents takes some practice!  Everyone we’ve met so far have been so great....well other than a grumpy guy at a bar who asked me if I’d entered the USA legally.  I’m hoping he was trying to be funny.

August 10 - off to New Brunswick

We packed up the motorcycle into the trailer.  Probably won’t be riding anymore the rest of our trip.  Kevan gave it a good clean to wash the salt air residue off.  We’ve put on just over 5000km on the bike this trip and over 10000km on the truck already. We drove out of Cape Breton and headed to Moncton New Brunswick.  We had seen an ad on tv that there was a casino in Moncton that offered free RV parking overnight and we thought that could be a fun overnight spot.  The weather in Nova Scotia was beautiful.  As we got closer to Moncton we could see a thunderstorm brewing.  Torrential rain mixed with large hail followed.  People pulled off the highway and waited out the storm.  We stopped briefly but then carried on.  It was over almost as quickly as it started.  We knew something was up in Moncton when we got off the highway and tried turning into the casino.  A bit of a traffic nightmare and many people walking with cam...

August 7 - Gander

After we got off the ferry yesterday from St. Pierre we had a short ride to Marystown and spent the night at a B&B.  Got started relatively early this morning and headed to Gander.  We rode to Goobies again and had a short break there.  We then carried on to Gander.  We got into town early afternoon.  There’s not much to do in Gander so we had a relaxing rest of our afternoon & evening. August 25-Coeur d’Alene

My chauffeur is turning into a hard core driving machine and making good time!  Gotta love those new tires😊. We stayed 45 minutes west of Billings Montana last night and decided we’d make a stab at getting to Idaho today.  We traveled through Bozeman, Butte and through beautiful Lolo National Park.  We were north of Lolo Pass, a favourite motorcycle ride for us we’ve done a few times with friends.  I was kinda sad we didn’t have time to unload the bike & ride it again.  Probably wouldn’t have been as much fun without Dave & Lori and Vic & Kristin anyways.  Next time!  We made it to Coeur d’Alene and had a nice evening there.  So many great things to do here to as we’ve stayed here a few times but home is calling.  Only one more state to go!
